Insecticide necklace
Just one of the necklaces I designed for whiteowl, this witty number is perfect for summer, reminding the wearer of those warm, muggy, buggy days when a can of Raid just isn't enough!!

RIP Michael Jackson
The King of Pop may be gone , but his spirit (and influential dress sense) carries on in bandleader/military jackets like this one from Fred Flare... so put Thriller on repeat, throw on one glove and a little something glam- military and start dancing... Mike would've wanted it that way!

Sophomore
New label Sophomore by Chrissie Miller carries casual cotton clothes along the lines of American Apparel, but with a lot more style. Don't get me wrong, I will still be visiting American Apparel to stock up on leggings, but Sophomore is my new favorite.

I love summer sandals!
Another sweet pair of sandals on my summer wishlist... leave it to UK's Irregular Choice to somehow make ditsy florals seem futuristic.
textile necklaces
Textile necklaces are everywhere this summer... I made this one myself a few weeks ago out of black tee shirt strips and cream wooden beads.
Urban Outfitters has quite a few, made from materials like tee shirts and scarves.
Or if you prefer to support independent artists, TalkingSquid on etsy has endless fringe versions.

eye candy
super summery cheerful shades from day-lab... the pale pink are my favorites. These are new, but day-lab has tons of vintage sunglasses, too!
Alexander Girard prints at UO
Urban Outfitters is carrying a line of cute house stuff featuring the patterns of 20th century American textile designer Alexander Girard - and they even carry a book of his designs! If you are a fan of cute modern design with a touch of a folk-art aesthetic, you may want to check it out...

summer tee shirts
I am not usually a 't-shirt and jeans' person, but there are some days (especially when it is 90 out) when tee shirts or tank tops are really the only way to go...
I like this one from Chocosho (plus it's on sale!)
I buy a LOT of my summer tee shirts from Heavy Rotation, (if you like tees but are not familiar with them, check them out-they pretty much built their name on tee shirts) and recently bought these two-
I especially like the witty trompe- l'oeil effect on the shoelace shirt- cute!

giving the blog thing another try.
okay, so I started this blog quite a while back, then I got so busy ... so it has been pretty much abandoned. But, now it is summer, and I'm giving it another try! So here is what I wore today in toasty sweaty michigan... a 1980's yellow and grey jumper (or onesie, playsuit... whichever term you prefer) I bought at Lost & Found Vintage in Royal Oak. I think that the onesie/jumper will probably be my default fuss free summer outfit. I found a few other cute ones at Urban Outfitters-
